I got a ‘YES’ – Now What?

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Answer this question for yourself: “What do people do when they are unsure of what to say or do next?”

If you said, nothing then you’ve given me the same answer I get every time I ask the question…Please hear that – Every Time.

Now let me ask you this, How many of you find you don’t talk to as many people as you “oughta,” should or could because you’re afraid that:

    1. You will say the wrong thing and blow through your warm market and then will have no one else to talk to

Or

    2. You will say the right thing and someone will say “Yes, I’m interested what do you do?” Now you’re confronted with “process too complicated to explain (P2C2E).” (I thank Salman Rushdie for his wonderful book Haroun and The Sea of Stories and his delightful treatment of those of us committed to making things tougher than they need to be!)

Now I’m going to be bold here (you see if it’s the same as rude), P2C2E is (after working and speaking with hundreds of you as a coach ~if you count the years I was an active network marketer that number is thousands) at the top of the list as to why your business does not duplicate. The top of the list….

And it is simply because you’re not Savvy enough!

How do you fix this problem? Step 2. (more…)

Is it time for you to learn the “Art of Nagging?”

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

How many of you have ever had to ask someone to do something more than once before it actually gets done?

If anyone of you said, “Never, everything gets done the first time I ask,” please give me a call immediately. I want what you have! ;-)

Having to ask more than once for something is a part of everyday life. Yet I know from working with so very many of you, asking can be uncomfortable…and having to ask more than once can be very uncomfortable.

I get it….I don’t like feeling I’m a bother…or nag either.

But there are ways to ask…ways to ask that get you want you want…and…and this is a significant “and,” you can be comfortable while you’re doing the asking! What’s more, the person you’re interacting with can be comfortable with the entire process and (more…)

How do you get participation?

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Hey Everyone,

Here’s the question I’d like you to think about and join in with your ideas: “How can you get your team to want to join your coaching/training conference calls?”

Let’s keep this in mind – How many of you have ever seen a two year old in action? What’s their favorite word when their told to do something? We all know the answer “NO”!

Well ask yourself this…Did you get better as you got older at taking orders? I certainly didn’t. When someone “tells” me to do something my first reaction is not necessarily, “sure.” ;-)

I’m much more likely to get involved if I’m asked to do so. And certainly much more likely to if I’m enrolled.

So take a look at how you’re getting the word out to your team about conference calls and meetings etc. If you’re getting resistance it might be in the insistence!

Cross Pollinating

I’m lying in bed last night wondering what would be a great way to utilize all your ideas for the benefit of all of you. Let me explain. In our six month Savvy Sponsoring program either Norine, Candye or myself typically throw out a question during the mastermind session.

For example, “How do you coach your downline to develop new ‘warm’ relationships from a ‘cold market’?”
    Or
“How can you get your team to want to join your coaching/training conference calls?

From there, as coach we might throw out an idea or two but typically someone in the mastermind shares something, then someone else shares, and then someone else…. (more…)

Confessions of a Business Coach!

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

As a business coach I do my best to live within the integrity of what I coach. For me that means, I keep store hours, work from my dream list, and put what I want to accomplish on any given day into its very own time slot in my very sexy calendar. This is how I keep time on my side…rather than it feeling like a tyrant. I get things done and I’m on top of my game. And all this without that never-ending-nasty to-do list!

For years I worked my network marketing business this way, coaching these tools to downline and now to coaching clients. I know it works. Most of what I do each day (when I’m doing it right!) furthers not only my monthly goals but also my annual and five year plan. It gives me the freedom to enjoy my time off (which gets planned first) and also allows me to be the efficient, functioning Chief Executive Officer of my business.

But you know sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way I want it to. This last month is a classic example. (more…)

Do You have Trouble Keeping Your Store Hours?

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

Store hours smore hours… I can put them down but what good does it do if I can’t follow them?

Store hours can be tough, real tough. If you struggle don’t feel alone. So do I and at some time I think most of us do.

Getting a handle on time is tough enough but keeping a handle can at times be even tougher.

Many of you heard my calendar story when I returned from my wonderful holiday in Italy. I felt like I simply didn’t know where to begin… I mentioned it to one of my clients who very kindly said to me, “Sounds like a calendar issue Jillian.” ;-)

And it was… (more…)

Network Marketing: If it is so good how come so many people fail?

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Ever feel like you’re trying to give away a virus rather than answers to some of life’s problems? It’s crazy making isn’t it. You feel so passionate about your business because you know it works. You personally have had some success. Your upline is wildly successful. You know this can put financial wealth and freedom within reach.

What gives? This business isn’t really hard. All you have to do is make a list of everyone you know and go show them your product (it practically sells itself!). And then sign ‘em up.

But if the above is true, that anyone can do this business, then ask yourself this:

Why it is so difficult sometimes to sponsor people into your business?

Why do so many who start a business have such a tough time getting into action?

Why is it so hard to keep those who do start a business in action? (more…)

Money Tree

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

with Norine Arundell

Clearly there is a lot of money to be made in the MLM Industry. This poses a few questions: Why are there so many people coming into this business not meeting their financial expectations? Why are there so many people not even getting their feet wet or getting started? What seems to happen to the grand plan? Why are so many people tucking their tails between their legs and going away ?

Well, it just doesn’t happen that a person wakes up one morning and decides; there is nothing to do today, why not start a networking business? Rather, there is a need or a want, a passion if you will, to change their circumstances and add something to their lives. Money may be the necessary component to make that change. But I believe it’s all about lifestyle- the ability to live the lifestyle of your choosing.

I present to you the visual image of a Money Tree. The general myth is; at any time the fruit from this tree can be harvested and ergo all needs magically fulfilled. But that’s not how it works. We are all handed a “Money Tree” when we start our new network marketing business. But the success lies in how we nurture and care for that tree.

How would you take care of a brand new money tree so that it would produce all the money you wanted for as long as you wanted?

Hard Work Does Not Bring Success – Candye Hinton

Would you believe me if I said, “Focusing only on obtaining a successful business could be the reason why you’re not yet successful”?

Did you know for most people:

  • the reasons we get into business are not the reasons we stay.
  • the reasons we say why we want to make money are seldom what we spend it on.

Being successful in a business doesn’t come as a result of hard work. Let’s face it many of us have worked really, really hard. (more…)

  • No Magic, Just Business

    Friday, January 13th, 2006

I started this month’s ezine with a note from Bonnie Hersey because I want to make the point that it isn’t magic that makes a network marketing business work. What makes a business work (network marketing or any business) are good foundational business tools. Bonnie calls them “Savvy Sponsoring simple but direct concepts” and she’s absolutely correct.

So many times people come to me hoping for the “magic words” to get everyone to say “Yes.” But the big truth is there are no magic words. There are excellent simple tools that make every working day productive.

But if that’s true, why do so many people seem to struggle in Network Marketing? Why does network marketing have the less than stellar reputation it has? I think the reason for that is we are often our own worst enemy. Here’s why.
