Leadership is one of those nebulous hard-to-define concepts.  We all know it’s there.  We recognize it when we see it.  But it’s tough to define.  It is tough to put your finger on.

Great leadership is uncommon.  It is also unconventional.  That’s why it’s often tough to develop.  The kicker of course, is that if a business (yours or anyone else’s) is going to flourish, be truly effective, move quickly (including making decisions) and be profitable, there must be a great leader at the helm.

Network marketing is a unique business model.  It is a cooperative model rather than a competitive model.  That means that the traditional rules of business leadership simply do not fit well.  Also, the leaders in network marketing often look very different than the leaders in the conventional business world.

Who Are Network Marketing Leaders and What do They Look Like?

They are women and men from all walks of life.  They are not necessarily MBAs or attorneys (although they could be).  But most often they are ‘regular people.’  They are your neighbors.  They are moms and dads.  They are just as likely to be a school teacher as they are to be in retail sales, or a small business operator as a home schooler.  They can just as easily be starting their careers as getting ready for retirement or any place in-between.  What they often have in common is a desire for more money in their bank accounts and more flexibility in their day-to-day lives.

Introducing the Savvy Leadership Coaching Program

This class is for those of you who recognize that ‘conventional’ leadership is not necessarily relevant leadership for the network marketing industry.  You are not dealing with employees in your businesses.  You are dealing with independent representatives.  Telling someone ‘what to do” often doesn’t work.  But no one comes into network marketing knowing what to do or how to do it.

Therefore, the path to leadership needs to be rethought, customized for our industry and must include the tools and concepts to enable the ambitious, smart and skilled women and men who join your team to reach their full potential.

Welcome to the first ever Savvy Sponsoring Leadership Coaching program.  Although all of our programs promote personal development, taking responsibility for your business, playing a bigger game and staying out of the “Mother of All Information” business, never before have we offered a course focusing exclusively on Leadership.

You must have attended at least one of these prior Savvy Sponsoring Coaching Programs:

  1. The four month Power Prospecting class
  2. Any of the six month Savvy Sponsoring Classes

Why Requirements?

This class will expect a fair amount of familiarity with the Savvy Sponsoring tools and techniques.  If we talk about ‘Store Hours, keeping a calendar, pipeline or systems for example, we expect that everyone will know what we’re talking about.  We will be expanding on these ideas from a leadership perspective.  You need to be familiar with the foundational principles regardless of how you may struggle with their implementation.

If you have taken one of the above programs, participated in the coaching gym that went along with the class, you are ready for the Savvy Sponsoring Leadership program.  We will get you through your sticking points.

What You Will Learn

Like all our Savvy Sponsoring coaching programs, there will be no homework for homework sake.  It is expected you will introduce many, if not all, of these new leadership concepts into your business because they will positively effect your recruiting, training, productivity and bottom line.

  • Money Management for Leaders.  Put your metrics to work.  Make money, save some and spend some for continued business growth.
  • Write Your Leadership Vision – Not a task list.  But a road map that speaks to your heart.
  • Know when your duplicable.  Know when you’re not.  Balance the art of, doing, delegating and moving on.
  • Know when to duplicate and when to innovate
  • Encourage and empower your team members’ business growth and personal development.  Don’t serve as a babysitter or a sidelines motivator.  Their growth is their responsibility not yours.
  • Learn when to step back or step in.  Failing is part of everyone’s business.  Growth depends on it.
  • Implement a strong, yet simple getting started system that focuses on getting your new business builder into money making  activity immediately.
  • Manage your activities so you demonstrate being a leader by building YOUR business.
  • Find the best way to model the behavior you want them to take.
  • Develop systems that duplicate money making results, and save you hours of training time.
  • Develop a system so you know exactly where your new distributor is, the progress they are making and the obstacles they’re running into. No Guessing!
  • “Lead Your Tribe” don’t follow or coddle it.
  • Close each and every conversation to the next relevant step – and teach your team to do the same.
  • Develop the art of follow-up and an elegantly simple follow-up system that works, every time.
  • Play a bigger game.

It’s All About You

Everything you’ve just read is critically important to being a leader.  However, we’ve left the most important and possibly toughest for the last.

Self Leadership. Wondering what the hell is self-leadership?  It means being true to who you are.

It means taking a good strong look at what your limited thinking may be doing to not just your business but to you too.  Do you suffer from “No one does it better than me” syndrome?  Think about that for a moment.  Doing it all yourself limits your growth, the growth of your business and the growth of your team members.  It is the kiss of death.  There is no delegation if you think you’re the only one who ‘can do it.’  That equals no real team growth.  None…

It also leaves you stuck to coddle and ‘do for’ that ineffective team.  How can you grow personally if you’re constantly changing ‘business diapers?’  These are just two examples of self defeating behavior (patterns!) that keep us locked in place.

Take Care of You First

Do you operate on the premise that being a ‘good’ wife, mother, husband, father or business leader means taking care of everyone else before you take care of yourself?  Do you operate on the premise that fixing things and/or people and their problems is your job or responsibility?  Do you believe you are the only one who can keep all those plates spinning?  Are you the only one who can get it done?  The results of that kind of thinking can be disastrous.

Let’s take a bird’s eye look.  You are on an airplane and those dreaded masks drop in front of you.  Why do they tell you to put your mask on first and then help others?  Because the people you help can’t put their mask on let alone help you put yours on.  If you put theirs on first, great.  They’ll be fine.  Now they get to watch you turn blue.

Are you doing too much for everyone else?  Is your business turning blue?  Are you?
