Amy Compressed 2I’ve been a business owner since 1986 and part of the network marketing industry since 1991 – as a consultant, a top-earning builder, an international trainer, coach and writer. I’ve been published many times in the top industry journal Networking Times and am a contributing author to Dr, Joe Rubino’s Ultimate Guide to Network Marketing.

I’ve spent a good part of my career in the network marketing industry – building teams, coaching individuals and groups, training, writing marketing materials, making great friendships, reconnecting with people from my past, losing great friendships, pulling my hair out, screaming with joy and frustration, attending and organizing dozens and dozens of conventions large and small. I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars and driven and flown tens of thousands of miles to build my business and teach and train about our industry in the U.S., Canada and in Europe. In the process I’ve generated multiple millions of dollars of business and learned more than I ever thought possible.

I was introduced to network marketing through the back door – writing marketing materials for a few MLM companies back in the early 90s. In 1994, one of those clients asked if I would take a look at his company– I said yes to be courteous and he faxed me about 25 pages of stuff to read (most people didn’t have email yet). I wasn’t very excited, but when he called and had me draw out the comp plan and explained the basics of leverage and residual income, I was hooked. I lost sleep thinking about how smart it was.

Here’s the kicker though – I went to my first networking convention, within a couple of months of getting excited and signing up with the aforementioned client. I looked at all these ‘regular’ people parading across the stage and saw what kind of money they were making and all I could think was: If they can do that, I can do it too. How hard could it be? I decided right then and there I was going to the top.

Well, I did get to the top – it took five years and A LOT of learning, and a lot of heartbreak, some desperation, some fear, lots of learning about myself, tons of personal development, lots of money spent experimenting with marketing and lots of driving and talking and presenting and training. I got there, but it was hard work. And, I learned a TON.

I saw just about everything – even things I couldn’t have imagined. I met some of the greatest people I’ve ever known, and was deeply disappointed by the dishonesty and back-stabbing of some people I had really admired. I’ve been praised on stage in front of tens of thousands, I’ve won awards and been wined and dined and I’ve been betrayed and lied to. Starts to sound like a soap opera, and sometimes it felt that way.

People love to hate this industry – I love to love this industry. I love to teach how to do it professionally, with integrity, and authenticity and how to make it really work. I like to get real about what it is, and what it isn’t. I tell the truth about the inevitable disappointments and the incredible possibility and the way your life can improve beyond measure, in many different ways. I’m a huge advocate for this industry people love to hate – I believe they don’t understand it. I teach what it’s really about – in business terms anyone can understand and when you really get it and can learn to explain those concepts to others, it’s when your business starts to really click and your bank account starts to grow and life changes forever.
